Johannesburg Park Station
Located in the heart of the country’s economic powerhouse, with an estimated feet count of over 200 000 people per day, Johannesburg Park Station is the 2nd biggest passenger railway station in Africa. The Park Station precinct is an important transport node and significant to South Africa as it connects all provinces in the country, but it also serves as a hub for cross border busses, which links South Africa with the SADC region.
To keep pace with changing commuter needs and transport trends, much development has happened since the late 1990s. In the last three years alone, the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has invested R1.2 billion in further upgrades to the station’s infrastructure and retail offering. New additions include a food court catering to diverse tastes, a banking mall and a modern bus ticketing and waiting area. MMQS was appointed by Prasa Cres for the refurbishment of existing shops, offices and intermodal transport facilities ensuring that the station complies with new standards.
